This holiday season is the best! You know why? Because this is one of the very rare times that I was able to get something that I really wanted in that Monito Monita racket....I GOT THE NEWEST THE CURE CD!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Hehehe. j.luna's the proud owner of the newest The Cure cd " 4:13 Dream", which is definitely one of the best that they ever made so far.

For the past 2 days, I've spent my enchanted evenings listening to this album, mesmerized.

Medyo iba ang direction ng banda sa album na ito. Di tulad ng mga mid 80's-early 90's na stuff nila na heavy on the electronic music.
 Itong album na ito ay more focused on guitars and other real instruments.

If you can remember tracks like "The Walk" or "Close To Me" na  medyo danceable, Electronica inspired nu-wave ang sound, walang ganito sa 4:13 Dream.

Medyo, may hints ng electronica and ambient music pero rinig na rinig ang guitars and bass, at di masyado ma-drum machine.

May songs nga na medyo distorted ang guitars at very Shoegaze music inspired, at may hints din ng Indie, very much 90's to Bloodflowers na era pero parang napaka-dim na ng hints ng Punk.

Well, if you are familiar with their old tracks like "Boys Don't Cry" and "Killing an Arab", na Punk ang tugtugan,  masosopresa ka sa evolution ng musika ng banda mula noong late 70's patungo sa tugtog nila sa album na ito.

To say it in a simpler manner, this is a Rock Oriented album. Guitar based, wala nang mahahabang epic love songs like "A Letter To Elise" (may all time fave song) o yung mga makakatulugan mong kanta sa "Wish" and "Bloodflowers" na album, at wala nang mga kanta na pang-disco.
I can't think of a certain genre or band that I can compare the album to, but let's just say that there is a feel of Radiohead or My Bloody Valentine in this shit.

Pero, eventhough malayo ang tugtog nitong album na ito, compared to their previous material, panalo parin ito. As in PANALO.

Robert Smith never fails to impress me with his skill in writing songs.
Poetic in a sense na we can even call them literary.

Medyo nagulat lang ako, kasi usually sa sleeve ng The Cure albums ay may literary allusions.
Halimbawa sa Wish, may quote sa sleeve ni Shelley at ang kantang Letter to Elise, sounds like Kafka's "A Letter To Felice"...Di ko alam kung coincidence ito.
Siyempre yung "Killing An Arab" is about Camus' The Stranger.
Tapos yung "Bloodflowers" has a quote in the sleeve from Tennyson.

Well, to tell you the truth, the album has no low side. It is perfect in it's own right, and this is the best thing to happen in music for the last quarter of this year.

The Album has 13 tracks and sells at around 450php at your fave capitalist owned record bars
